The abridged story was written by the late Chris van Wyk and has been put in pictures to appeal to children.
“Sharing Madiba’s story is a wonderful way to encourage children to emulate the kind of qualities that Mandela and his generation of leaders stood for,” said Nal’ibali Campaign Driver, Smangele Mathebula.
Although the books are published in English, the story will be read on radio stations in the other 10 South African languages in the week leading to Mandela Day.
