Nal’ibali, Pan Macmillan release Long Walk to Freedom children’s book

Ahead of Mandela Day this year, Nal’ibali and Pan Macmillan have partnered up to create a children’s picture book of the late Nelson Mandela’s autobiography, Long Walk to Freedom.

The abridged story was written by the late Chris van Wyk and has been put in pictures to appeal to children.

“Sharing Madiba’s story is a wonderful way to encourage children to emulate the kind of qualities that Mandela and his generation of leaders stood for,” said Nal’ibali Campaign Driver, Smangele Mathebula.

Although the books are published in English, the story will be read on radio stations in the other 10 South African languages in the week leading to Mandela Day.

Participating radio stations include:
SAfm, Lotus FM and Radio 2000
567 Cape Talk, Umhlobo Wenene, Capricorn FM
Bush Radio, CCFM, Mosupatsela FM Stereo
Mozolo FM 98.2, Unisa Radio, Central University of Technology (CUT) FM
Eldos FM, IFM 102.2, Mdantsane FM 89.5
Link FM, TruFM, Ligwalagwala FM
Thobela FM, Motsweding FM and Phalaphala FM

Nal’ibali and Pan Macmillan will also be donating 7000 books to schools, book clubs, NGOs and literature organisations. Click on this link for more information on how to get a copy of the book.
