Nomashenge Dlamini

Nomashenge Dlamini is a 22 year old Ladysmith born, Durban based,Spoken Word Artist. She began her art journey in 2005 as a writer and 2007 as a performer.

Nomashenge is a member of Keen Artist Theatre (KAT , a performing arts collective with the likes of Mxolisi Mtshali and Busiswa Gqulu as alumni’s, based in Durban, Westville. In 2013 she was Executive Director of KAT.

Apart from KAT stage performances, Nomashenge has shared her work in numerous Poetry and Hip Hop Shows in and around Durban including: the Madadeni Arts Experience 2012 (Newcastle), Poet In A Suit (Durban), the annual PACSA Film and Arts Festival of 2013 and 2014(Pietermaritzburg), Give me 10 Mics Volume 4 (Durban), Pen and Tongue (Durban), Muted Lips Re-Genesis (Durban), Izwi Youth Movement Poetry and Music Session (Pietermaritzburg), and Soul Food on Home Soil Vol. 1 to 6 (Vryheid).

Tulile Siguca

Tulile Siguca is a Mthatha born grahamstown bred young man currently being smothered by the beauty that is Durban. He has to date had 22 birthdays. A poet who truly enjoys writings and playing with words. Poetry found me in a dark time and place and since then has shown me nothing but grace. I am currenty the Chairman of Nowadays Poetry one of the oldest poetry circles in Durban.

Africa Dlamini

Africa Dlamini is a Slam/Spoken Word poet from Howick, Pietermaritzburg. Evident in the body of his work he regards himself as a Pan-Africanist evident in the body his work. However his writing is primarily influenced by his father’s stories and journeys, and the ordinary stories of African landscapes of current times. Africa is also one of six members of a Spoken Word collective known as Sonnet of Poets.


This project is part of SA-UK Seasons 2014 & 2015 which is a partnership between the Department of Arts and Culture, South Africa and the British Council.
