We have received feedback that it is getting even more difficult for people to sign up for the Word N Sound Poetry League. It has become a norm now for people to start arriving as early as 6am on show day to sign up and ensure their spot in a show that only starts at 1pm. We are not complaining, however, this has meant that some people, especially women, have been left out of signing up for the Poetry League due to safety concerns with arriving early at the Con Cowan Theatre.
We have now introduced an online sign up system to cater especially for those people who have valid reason why they cannot show up at 6am to sign up. So whether you are a poet worried about safety or you simply live outside of the Gauteng province and will be traveling to the show, you now have a chance to sign up for the most exciting poetry open mic in South Africa. FIVE slots will be available on the online list, the rest will be assigned to the first 10 poets to sign up as usual at the venue.

How does the online sign up work?
Keep your eyes glued to our Twitter (@wordnsound) and Facebook (Word N Sound Poetry) pages for the online sign up link and form that will go live on the morning of each show (00:01). Sign up using the given form then wait for the email confirmation that you have been officially added to the performance list for the day. Simply show up at the Market Theatre Laboratory at 12:00 for the show. Please note, all multimedia performance elements (backing tracks & background visuals) must be handed over to Mutle or Brian by 11:00.
